Constitution & Bylaws
Article I. Name
The name of this organization shall be the Metropolitan State College of Denver Chemistry Club; aka Metro State Chem Club, MSCDCC.
Article II. Objectives
The Primary objective of MSCDCC is to be an outlet for the students studying chemical sciences, where they can further their association and intellectual stimulation of anything chemistry or student cohesion. Any opportunity to make professional connections through the club, or have exposure to professional life shall be embraced, and continued for further students. MSCD will attempt to bring awareness of chemistry to the surrounding community in which it is involved with.
Article III. Membership
Membership of MSCDCC is open to students, and public alike who share an interest in chemistry. In order to be considered an active member one must participate in club functions, and/or be involved with club planning/communication.
Article IV. Officers
The Offices of MSCDCC are President (any Lord villain’s name may be applied here), Treasurer (apply any Lord villain’s main assistant), Secretary (preferably the Messenger of said Lord), Vice-President (The one who wishes to have the Lord’s power). The collective group may be known as the Executive committee, and or to be elected from a pool of nominees with self/ faculty, or student nominations accepted. Elections should be held each fall, unless there is no desire from club members. Officers can be removed by majority vote of the Executive committee if said officer is not fulfilling said duties of their position, drops out, or is on academic probation. Officers who are placed on academic probation shall lose their office but may participate as club members until grades are improved.
All officers may call for club meetings, and have the duty to remain active in the club functions.
President
Manage/organize club events
Includes but shall not be limited to overseeing meetings, contacting/ coordinating personnel, coordinating demonstrations, managing club needs.
Vice-President
Filling in for supreme being aka President, auditing club finances when necessary, filling in roles of any missing Executive member. Lashing both the Nazgul and Uruk-hai when duties are not being met.
Treasurer
Keeping accurate records of club transactions and funds.
Overseeing fundraising
Manage club funds
Provide a report on the finances of the club to the EC at least at the beginning of each semester.
Secretary
Keeps records of all things MSCDCC including but not limited to official club registration paper work, contacts, meetings, discussions, ideas, plans, projects etc.
Executive committee
All members should be knowledgeable and comfortable with their own as well as each others duties and responsibilities.
Article VI. Faculty Advisors
MSCDCC shall have a lead and secondary advisor. Advisors may attend meetings and club functions. Advisors may offer academic, professional, and chemical advice to the club. Advisors shall also help with safety aspects of demonstrations. Advisors shall not guide the club in directions counter to the majority decision of the Executive committee. Advisors shall not encourage decisions that may be detrimental to a students academic career, or promise action of the MSCDCC without majority agreement of the Executive Committee. Advisors shall conduct themselves with the highest of moral standards in all circumstances, and shall communicate in a constructive manner.
Article VII. Meetings
To be had when needed, and open to all.
Article VIII. Dues
No monies shall be collected from any member of the MSCDCC, but participation shall be counted towards anything being asked for from the club for a member.
Article IX. Annual Reports
Annual reports must be sent to the Department of Higher Education each year, and can be found at chemistry.org. Student Activities can help with any missing information here.
Article X. MSCDCC Funds
Shall be used to earn more funds, demonstrations, club activities, and only by active club members. Any individual within the club deemed to be active may ask for club funds to help afford special activities that are chemistry related for that individual. All request must be turned in via email or paper to at least the President and Treasurer, in which to be voted on by the entire Executive Committee. Any fun requests over $100 must be turned into the MSCDCC with 1 month notice before spending of requested returns, and shall be itemized by expected item and cost of item needed. No member shall expect to get funds, nor shall they expect funding to be issued to non-club members. Any per diems requested shall not exceed $35 a day
Article XI. Amending the Constitution of the MSCDCC
Amendments may be made by the EC to the constitution with a majority vote. No article shall be permanent except article XI.
