Hello Everyone

I have managed to schedule a Tour of the Labs at the National Ice Core Laboratory! (ok, not my original idea, but cool just the same) (no, literally very cool). The laboratory manager, Todd Hinkley will arrange a customized tour for our knowledge level.  We will learn of the chemistry that is applied to the ice cores from around the world, (including Antarctica) that helps understand about earth’s environment in the past. Part of this tour is in warm areas, and part of it in sub zero temperatures.  You must bring cold weather gear etc…  Friday March 14th 11:00 AM, is the scheduled tour time.  We will plan to depart from Metro at 10:00 AM, so that we may carpool.  It is at the Federal Center.  PLEASE rsvp with me at jkingiv@comcast.net  asap. He really needs to know how many people are attending to arrange for it with the lab.

Check out their website:  http://nicl.usgs.gov/prewho.htm

Thanks,

James King

p.s.  Keep a lookout at the Events section of the website, we’ve got LOTS of cool tours coming up!

Reminder: March 6 Local Section Meeting

February 25th, 2008 | Category: Forgotten

Folks,

If you haven’t already seen it, check out the Events announcement for March 6.  This should be a very interesting presentation (at DU), and getting your faces in front of the local section means you represent yourselves (rather than Dr. Schelble and Yours Truly representing you) to the folks that make decisions to support student affiliates.  You might meet a future employer or grad school advisor, and dinner is only $5 for students.  Social hour (with wine and cheese) is 5pm, dinner is 6pm, talk is 7pm (and usually goes until 8pm).  Check out the newsletter hanging on the Club’s bulletin board for all the details.

RSVP deadline is Feb 28 (this Thursday) to Jessi Snyder (jsnyder6@du.edu) — let Jessi know you’re a Metro student.  Let’s be seen as the most active Chem Club in Colorado!

Dr. Evil
